Help Google Bot to Crawl your website – A Simple Guide

Technology has become so advanced that even a bot can visit your site. Yes truly it is, it’s strange that even a bot can read your website’s text.  But yeah, it can’t understand what you have written and what you want to say, but still it can understand what’s the topic of your blog.

Why we are talking about bots? Because in this topic we will discuss and learn about Google Bots and how important it is for your website to rank on Google’s top.

In these days almost everyone has a blog and everyone wants to make it to the top of Google. But as we all know it’s not that easy. Do i have a solution of it in this post? well not 100% but this post will help you for sure.

Now let’s see how to make Search engine bots crawl your site effectively ::

1. Create And Submitting Sitemap To Google :-

This is one of the most important thing you need to do. Site maps will help google to find your website/blogs/posts. Even if you can see your site already indexed in Google’s search, you should upload your sitemap to understand your site.

If you are using wordpress you can use any plugins to create your sitemap. Personally i am using Jetpack’s sitemap creator and it’s working well for me.  You can use it for free but can buy it as well if you want additional features.

2. Fix Crawl Errors, Register at Google Webmaster Tools :-

There are some pages in your website that google can’t access, and Crawl error page will help you to find those pages. Try to find those pages and fix them manually.

3. Robots.txt File :-

Robots.txt file is very important in this list. You need to check that your robots.txt file is not blocking any important URL’s or Meta tags. If you are not sure about this you can take some help from webmaster tools to create a robots.txt file for your website or blogs.

4. Image and Video Sitemap :-

Search engines will not understand your images and videos. So you need to add “ALT tag” to your images, again if you are using WordPress you can use “SEO friendly images” plugins to help google bots. And after this you can create a Image Sitemap for Your Images and Video Sitemap for your videos. You can see my image sitemap by clicking here.

5. Don’t Copy/Paste :-

Lots of new bloggers does this mistake, and I also did id. But soon enough i realised it wasn’t working. Yes google bots will know if you you Copy/Paste. So if you copy a content from another website or blog, you are not helping your website, infact it can harm your website. So try to remove all your copy/pasted post if have any. Still want to keep them? Try to rewrite them with your own language.

So that’s all I had in this post. do you know some important things about this? Please share with us, we would love to know.
